EPSRC Greetings
September 29, 2007
Last but not least, an introduction from your friends at the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.
We are the main UK government agency for funding research and training in engineering and the physical sciences, investing around £740 million a year in a broad range of subjects – from mathematics to materials science, and from information technology to structural engineering.
Carmine and I have clocked up 10 years at EPSRC, and have been involved in a bucket load of sandpits. (get it? bucket-sand?) Andy has already described what a sandpit is, and there’s more information regarding past events on our website www.epsrc.ac.uk . Like Michelle we’re both responsible for commisioning and developing research.
We’re really excitied about this opportunity to collaborate across academe and industry. The scale of this sandpit is larger then we’ve ever attempted before and we hope it’ll make a significant impact in this area.
